Frequently Asked Questions

Q: How do I become a VE?
The MRAC VEC always welcomes those interested in becoming a VE. The process is very simple.  We send you an application form, a VE manual and a open book test. Fill out the application, read the manual and take the test.  Send the app form and test sheet back to us and we put you on the list of qualified VEs for the MRAC VEC (this assumes that as in all past cases the open book exam is a slam dunk).

Q: How often is the MRAC website updated.
A: That will depend on the item.  For event changes such as a club meeting, we will strive to make the change on Thursday after the meeting has occurred.  The same holds true for VE testing and local events.  If for some reason the change can not be made on the day of, but after the event has occurred, we will try to post the change the following day.  When a new Chatter comes out it may take a couple of days since the.   For minor issues as we become aware of them, the change should be posted  the following weekend.

Actually, the changes are often made offline days before the changes are needed to be posted and are only uploaded to the website on the schedule previously described.

Q: Gee, there's no navigation buttons on this site, how do I navigate?
A: The primary method is the frame on the left side of the window.  Consider this a table of contents.  All the information contained within this website is just a single click away.   If you click on a link that takes you to another website, that website should open another window.  When you are finished browsing close that window.  If you want pressing the backspace key will back you up 1 webpage at a time.  Likewise, by using the secondary mouse key (generally this is a right mouse click) a menu should be displayed, click on the back option to backup 1 webpage.  I will add a home button to the information pages that will assist some navigation.

Q: When using Firefox as my browser sometimes the information pages are displayed as a full page rather then within a frame, how come?
A: I do not know, this has been submitted as a minor bug to Mozilla Firefox.
Update: This issue has not been seen for awhile.  There have been numerous updates to Mozilla Firefox in the past year including 1 upgrade.
